Accessibility Library Celia’s collection includes 55,000 books from different genres and for readers of different ages – non-fiction books, poems, fairy tales, detective stories, biographies, historical works, popular literature, Finlandia Prize-winning titles and more. The number is growing continuously, with nearly 1,500 books being added annually. Celia produces accessible versions of approximately 30% of all the fiction and non-fiction literature published in Finland, meaning talking, Braille, or e-books.
All books produced by Celia can be found on the Celianet online service and in the Pratsam Reader app.
Along with fiction and non-fiction, Celia also produces textbooks for different school levels.
It is easy to become a Celia talking book user through a library or educational institution.
The books are available to anyone with a print disability, meaning anyone who has difficulty reading ordinary printed text.
Celia’s talking books have been structured like all other books. This makes it possible to use the books much like printed books:
- you can stop reading at any time and pick up where you left off later
- the books can be bookmarked
- the books can be browsed e.g. by chapter or heading.
Books can be structured by using a variety of programmes. For now, the books produced by Celia follow Daisy, the international standard for publishing accessible books (Digital Accessible Information SYstem).
